An unhealthy relationship with food can develop for many reasons, including dieting, nutrition misinformation, body image concerns, stress, or past experiences. As an eating disorder dietitian, I can help you understand what's driving these patterns, rebuild trust in your body's cues, and develop a more peaceful, flexible, and sustainable relationship with food.

Whether you're struggling with food guilt, binge eating, anorexia, or simply feel exhausted by constantly thinking about what you should or shouldn't eat, I'm here to support you.

How I Can Help

Unhealthy Relationship with Food

If you catch yourself thinking about food all the time, categorizing foods as good or bad, feeling guilty or regretful after eating some foods, overeating or undereating, you might be struggling with an unhealthy relationship with food. Together, we'll explore where these thoughts, rules, and habits come from, why they've developed, and what may be keeping them in place. This will help you build trust with yourself around food so it takes up less mental space and eating feels more flexible, enjoyable, and peaceful.

Binge Eating and Feeling Out of Control Around Food

Feeling out of control around food or eating past fullness can be incredibly overwhelming and frustrating. You might feel like you have an addiction to food or like you can't trust your signals. Together, we'll work to understand the factors contributing to the binge eating, reduce the guilt and shame that often accompany it, and help you build a more trusting and balanced relationship with food. We'll also explore practical strategies that support regular eating, coping with emotions, and reconnecting with your body's signals.

Anorexia

If you find yourself consistently restricting your food intake, feeling a strong fear of weight gain, and experiencing significant distress around eating or body image, you may be navigating anorexia. Recovery can feel overwhelming, and you don't have to do it alone. As part of your support team, my role is to help you gradually restore adequate nutrition in a way that feels manageable and supportive. Together, we'll work on slowly meeting your nutritional needs through meal planning / creating manageable increments in your intake, helping you reintroduce foods without fear, rebuilding trust in your body's cues over time, and moving at a pace your body and mind can handle.

Shifing Our Focus From Weight to Wellbeing

If you feel worried about your weight, you are absolutely not alone, and we will discuss it. During our consultations, I’d love to hear your personal story - whether it’s about dieting, weight changes, or the pressures you’ve felt from living in a world that places so much emphasis on weight.

If you’ve tried dieting, that’s completely understandable; we live in a society that often equates thinness with health and worth. I’d love to hear how those experiences made you feel - perhaps hungry, frustrated, or preoccupied with food and weight. You may also have found yourself avoiding social situations involving food or feeling anxious about conversations around weight.

These experiences are very common, and I deeply understand the impact they can have on your wellbeing.

As an anti-diet dietitian, I support clients in moving away from rigid food rules and toward a more flexible and sustainable relationship with food. Instead of focusing on weight as the main measure of progress, we’ll work on improving how you feel physically and mentally day to day.

We’ll explore how to nourish your body in a way that feels satisfying and supportive, reduce guilt and anxiety around eating, and better understand the patterns behind your relationship with food.

Weight is influenced by many complex factors, many of which are outside of your control and often under-recognized in society. Because of this, our work focuses on building a more stable, peaceful, and sustainable relationship with food and your body that supports your overall wellbeing.
